Another polished game in what will soon be one of the greatest gaming trilogies of all time.

User Rating: 9.9 | God of War II PS2
The game itself, speaking in broad terms, was absolutely fantastic. But come on, did you really think it would be anything but? The first God of War was so well done it was hard to imagine them messing up its sequel. Gameplay remained relatively unchanched and trust me--it was for the better; there really wasn't much to improve upon from its predecessor. Graphically it seemed just a tad bit more polished than the original but not by much, certainly not like the difference we'll see between the second and third games in the series. The storyline, I thought, was actually better than the first. Just like they explain in the vid-doc, it was almost like they were pulling the camera away from the scene to reveal all that was merely in the periphery in the last game. You get a sense that Kratos has gotten himself into a conflct on a much wider scale. No longer does he squabble with one god, now he's taking them all on in classic Kratos fashion: his way or the highway. The inclusion of famous Greek heroes was a plus (especially when you get to mash on Theseus). If you're a fan of brutal gratuitous violence God of War II won't disappoint. In fact, it can probably be said that it was a bit gorier than the first. Fun factor was a definite 10; Kratos never failed to put a smile on my face as he stuck it to the gods in every way shape and form. Overall, as I said in the beginning, the game was an absolute masterpiece. To say I have high hopes for the finale of the trilogy would be an understatement.
