A great sequel to the first game.

User Rating: 9.3 | God of War II PS2
Very weird to see this in games... and although God of War 1 should have been an open an shut deal, the developers were kinda smart enough to twist the story a bit in order to not complicate the order of events of GOW2. The breakdown:

Gameplay: Well since the gameplay of God of War was so great they decided to throw it back all in there pretty much the same, except for three super combos type for each of the blade attack buttons... which are available through upgrading of weapons and magic. Of course magic come back, some new ones to learn and some old ones with a different wrapping. The famous Rage of the Gods is with a different form but a more convinient deployment in which, you´ll be able to save up what ever is left of the "Rage" is left and continue the "Rage" from where you stop the previous boost... if any of the meter should still be filled. Apart from that the gameplay is pretty much the same as the first game... a little variation here and there but nothing to big to make it a new experience. Of course, the gameplay form the first game was really cool its hard to say the one in the second game is bad cause its pretty much the same... just few twicks, few new additions, same package different wraping magic fro the last one; but over all its cool although you could fill that the first one, in terms of magic and attack, was a bit more mythic and overwhelming then the second entry. Graphics: This is where the changes start to show... The graphics in this game are much better then the first one and overall some of the best graphics to appear in the whole PS2 era of games. The changes right off the bat looks very good looking, which considering that by the time God of War first came out... all PS2 games should have nailed down the proper definition and quality to it maximun potential, this game ups it´s game a little bit more and shows that PS2 games still have a bit more life in them and the graphics quality of the console had not yet been reached to its fullest. The improvement is not only FMV wise but also gameplay where softer looking graphics appear and do not drop the frame rate when executing fast movements. Plus the game offers upscan for all those HD living players out there... so thats a big plus for next gen players to go back and check out last gen one more time.

Sound: The game series again brings near flawless sound effects and SFXs... The BGM comes again with the orchestral and Gregorian style genres and deliver that epic feel that immerses the player in the story of the game; to just simple things from running in a hall to battling powerful opponents and surviving the outcome against out of this world characters. As such a game should have, a great sound, music and FX quality that just pulls the player in the game and makes it hard to not do anything else but to deeply focus on the game itself.

Overall: The game delivers what it offers, a mythological adventure of gy-normous proportions, lots of action with that sort of crude and graphical scenes that comes from the mythology it bases itself on. A definite must have for actions game fans.
