I played the first God of War and said to myself, instant masterpiece. I heard a sequel to it was in development and I thougt to myself: Oh no, they're gonna screw it up. However, I played God of War 2 and the only words that came out of my mouth were "Whoa" and "Wow". The game begins right after the first game ends. Kratos is now the God of War, but after a series of events(Which I won't detail), Kratos is stripped of his godly powers and is reduced to what he was before and make matters worse, he's dead. But thanks to a certain Titan, he is able to regain his life and is now on a mission for revenge against the King of Olympus.
But the problem is, he's no longer a god, so now he must journey to confront the Sisters of Fate and trust me, you'll have fun doing it. The combat system believe it or not, is vastly improved from the first game, new magic attacks, more sub-weapons(This time you can change weapons even during battle!), and expanded combo system with the addition of a Rage mode will make all other action games run home with their tails between their legs.
The visuals have recieved a face-lift as well, temples and outdoor environments give off a cinematic flair even in-game. The cinematics are a testament to the development team's skill and dedication. The music score and voice-acting like everything else about the game, is of top notch quality. The story, while not as strong as in the first game still goes well with the game. The camera is once again game controlled but like the last game gives a dramatic and cinematic view to the action. The controls, oh the controls, are flawless, there is no way you can die in this game because of the controls, if you do, its your own fault.
The only knock I have with the game is that its a bit on the short side, I beat the single player campaign a little over six hours. But thanks to the unlockables and challenges you can get after you beat the storyline, the game will encourage to back and play it through multiple times. You can even start the game and play the storyline with all your spells and sub-weapons intact in Bonus Play.
God of War 2 contains everything I would want in an action game, perfect visuals, memorable music score and perfect controls. I can guarantee you'll feel like a true tough guy by the time this game is over. Buy this if you don't already own it.
