The best "God of War" I've played yet.

User Rating: 9 | God of War III Remastered PS4

Positives:

  • Plenty of that epic action you've come to expect out of "God of War."
  • The most polished entry in the series up to this point.
  • The scope and scale of the game really carries it.
  • Combat remains as fun and exciting as ever.
  • Some of the new powers help this to feel like more than just "another God of War" game like the last few.
  • Story remains intriguing and takes some exciting new turns.
  • Kratos is as badass as ever.
  • Visuals are amazing, as you'd expect.
  • PS4 remaster offers 60 FPS, which is an absolute dream.

Negatives:

  • Still feels a little "same-y" like the other games, though not to the same egregious extent.
  • This was a problem with "Ghost of Sparta," but I hate that the QTEs are on the edges of the screen now.

Consensus: Well, how about that? I found a way to actually review games on here again. GameSpot really screwed my "Bendy and the Dark Revival" review, but no one can keep the man down. That said, my Backloggd will be a greater priority than this, though I'm gonna keep writing reviews here as like a personal "log" of what I liked and disliked about games. This'll be the "deeper look," whereas Backloggd will be the "quick sum-up," I suppose. Either way, "God of War III" finally saw the series start winning me over. After several games of feeling like I was playing the same thing, this finally pushed things in some interesting directions. It helps that the scale and scope make this feel so much bigger than before. If you haven't played it yet, I highly recommend it, specifically through the PlayStation 4 version.
