You're going to want to rent this before you buy it. And here's why
One of the biggest things I hated was after you start the game there is no way that I found to change the difficulty of the game. One thing that was nice was that if you were stuck on a difficult part (like the battle with Poseidon) after about 5 deaths the game will ask you if you wish to change difficulty for the boss battle to something easier. This is nice; the only problem is that once it went down there is no way to change it back to where you had it before; so you're stuck on easy for the rest of the game.
The camera angles also become quite apparent as you move through the game, usually this isn't a problem. But there comes times where you can barely see your guy on the screen because the camera is zoomed out so far and other times where it's so close to you that you can't really see where the enemies are coming from. Also I noticed that in small spaces the camera would move all over the place or sometimes not move at all when I was trying to look for boxes or the simple fact of trying to know where to go next.
Next is Combat, it's a lot of fun smashing through your enemies and throwing them up in the air and watching them smash to the ground. Ripping the eye of a Cyclops out! But there is no diversity in finishing moves at all; what happens to one Siren will happen to the next one and the next one. And soon it comes to the point where combat itself with the little minions becomes really repetitive and i found myself either trying to run through some small battles or being able to watch my roommate play League of Legends while i repeatedly hit the square button. Basically it became boring and quick.
This didn't happen a lot but their where times when I would be in a boss battle like and simple fall through the map; didn't happen much but enough for me to mention it.
Finally Comes the ending, I'm not going to give anything away but it simply seemed like it would never end. There was the boss battle, then a cut scene, then 5 minutes of you walking around and swimming, little battle, and then rapidly hitting circle for 5 minutes till the screen was filled with blood and you couldn't see what was happening but you had to keep hitting circle, and last was another 5 minute cut scene. The problem was that it seemed to just drag for the sake of dragging.
In the end, God of War III started so strong and had so much potential to be a great game, but it ended up being a complete disappointment to me. If you're looking for something that looks great and you love mindlessly killing enemies without any thought then this game is something for you, but if you like challenges then look elsewhere. If you ask me, don't waste your money, rent it before you buy it.
Thank you and I hope this helped.
