The epic conclusion to the God Of War trilogy goes out with a bang... and what a massive bang!

User Rating: 9 | God of War III PS3
This is originally the game I wanted the PS3 for, and when it came out I couldn't wait to play it.
Well, now I have, and I'm very glad to say that I'm not dissapointed in the slightest. The most epic God Of War game in the series is also the best in my books and marks the conclusion of one of the best gaming trilogies of all time.
God Of War 3 picks up right where 2 left off and it makes for a very very action packed beginning. Climbing Mount Olympus on the back of a massive titan, while fighting another god is awesome, and even better than both of the openings of the other games.
Graphics wise, God Of War is stunning, delivering some of the best graphics around, a part of what the series is known for. Kratos looks more brutal and detailed than ever, and when he is in the thick of battle, you can see blood splatter all over him. The environments are interesting and huge, there's usually something going on in the background to grab your attention.
Every character and monster is just so detailed, it's amazing. God Of War 3 is also a very story driven game. As I said, it continues straight after 2, and will never fail to hold you. Voice acting is also top notch, Kratos' trade mark voice is back (obviously) and it's always entertaining to listen to what he has to say, no doubt something blood thirsty and carnivorous.
Now to the best part, the game play. It essentially remains unchanged, but theres enough new stuff to keep things fresh such as new weapons and magic abilities. Combat is simple, square for light attack, triangle for heavy and of course theres some pretty basic combos thrown in, along with some magic abilities. It's also very, very bloody, God Of War 3 is one of the goriest games around thanks to really brutal kills often involving a button mashing mini game, another trade mark of the series. As always, you can upgrade your weapons and items with experience. Experience is mostly locked in treasure chests (which can also contain health and magic) and is also earned by killing monsters. It's all pretty simple, which is a good thing, since it doesn't detract from the games main focus.
Again, there are a variety of puzzles thrown in for good measure. These are also entertaining and often well done. I didn't find them as difficult compared to the other games though.
Fans will expect alot of great boss fights in God Of War 3, and you can breathe a sigh of relief, they are here, and as with most things here, better than ever. Bosses are always massive and epic. They aren't just hitting the big guy until he dies, bosses often revolve around more button mashy mini games and a special weakness which you kill them by. I can't explain it very well, but these are some of the best moments to look forward to in this game.
One complaint is that it's a very short game with no multiplayer, so those looking for an overly long game, or replayability might have to think twice before considering this for a purchase.
Still, this game is probably the most epic game I have ever played, and lives up to the name of the series. If you're thinking of buying this without playing the others, then don't. Go and get God Of War Collection instead and then this, it will be worth your while.
Wrapping up now, God Of War 3 is my favourite of the franchise and must not be missed!
