A decent licensed game that doesn't do anything new and suffers from a lack of variety.

User Rating: 6.5 | Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado GBC
Now most gamers know the stigma surrounding movie license games and their usual lack of quality however some games break that mold and some can be decent in their own right. Gold and Glory the Road to El Dorado is a title that isn't quite as good as many popular games yet manages to be better than most licensed games (at least the Gameboy Color version). As with most handheld adventure games, Gold and Glory is a two dimensional side scrolling game. The objective of each level is to get to the end by navigating obstacles and defeating enemies in your way. There are plenty of surprises and traps to keep you from rushing to the end of any given stage blindly and there are plenty of secret areas to explore. The action and visuals are nice and fresh at the beginning of the game but as you progress to the end the visuals start to become blander and the action repetitive aside from a few boss fights and mini games. The music is an alright addition to the experience but none of the tunes are all that memorable. Within the levels are treasure pieces that are there to collect and once you get enough you get an extra life. There is also a password system that only gives you a password after a few levels instead of after each one which I thought was weird. All in all this game was well made but suffers from repetition.
