At the end of the day Golden Sun shines ever brighter with my opinion.

User Rating: 9 | Golden Sun: Dark Dawn DS

We all remember the Golden Sun series on the GBA. They were the 2 best RPGs on the Game boy Advance! But after Golden Sun the Lost Age the series went to sleep for 7 years. The developers were burned out and it was time to relax and think of Golden Sun's new future. Meanwhile fans like me wished for a sequel to be in development only to not get their wish granted until 7 years later! Now that the Golden Sun is back on horizon where it belongs I've never been more excited about it! Golden Sun has always been a very interesting game to me! It's an honor to review this game after the 7 years I've waited to play it! Let the Golden Sun shine again on this review!

Storyline: Golden Sun Dark Dawn takes place 30 years after Lost Age. After the Golden Sun rises Alchemy was unleashed upon the world of Weyard! Everything changed for the better and for the WORST! A shadowy threat is now spreading across the land of Weyard! Golden Sun Dark Dawn has a very beautiful presentation full of that ancient godly music that I could almost faint listening too! After the presentation is over you will see Isaac's look out cabin perched on one of the plateaus that forms the Goma Mountains. There Isaac along with his old friend Garrett watches over Mt. Aleph and monitors the Golden Sun's activity. Since 30 years have gone by the warriors of Vale now have children. The quiet Mathew is Isaac's son, the hard headed Tyrell is Garret's son, and the smart kind Karis is Ivan's daughter. The game starts off when Tyrell takes the soarwing and crashes it in the Tanglewood. Much more happens later on after you encounter your first Psenergy Vortex. Something evil is definitely afoot in Weyard and you'll learn that when you meet BLADOS! That is all I will say about the storyline...

Gameplay: If you remember playing the previous Golden Sun games then game play should be no problem. You will be using the Adept's psyenergy to kill those random monster encounters, solve puzzles, and save Weyard! There are over 70 Djinn in this game each with their own look and personality! Also I believe there are more party members too which I found really cool! When you get Amite you can switch that nerd Rief out ASAP! There is also an encyclopedia that will prove useful to those who have never played Golden Sun! It basically contains information about almost anything in the Golden Sun series! I love the new menu system also and NO it wasn't that clunky. You can use the touch screen in Dark Dawn to do almost anything which includes walking! But you aren't forced to use the stylus to walk like in Phantom Hourglass.

Graphics: The core of Golden Sun was the graphics and the music to go with that immersive storyline, puzzle solving, and those monster encounters! Golden Sun Dark Dawn pushes the DS's graphics engine to the MAX! The game is just stunning when it comes to eye candy! You can't help but say "WOW" when you see those adepts fighting those monsters and using there psyenergy! Everything in Golden Sun Dark Dawn is just so detailed you could just drool looking at the graphics! If you don't own a DSi then this game is reason enough to go out and buy one! I mean, just look at those summons!

Value: Yes I will be playing this game over and over. I already like what I see and there is a lengthy quest with an extended amount of content available. Much of what I expected for the sequel is here in Dark Dawn and I'm not complaining. I don't mind the boring conversations because I'm used to it! I've played so many RPGs and I like a juicy storyline with some plot twists. My advice, if you don't like reading or can't read at all then don't buy ANY Golden Sun game! Dark Dawn requires a readers full attention!

Overall: The wait is over and Golden Sun Dark Dawn is out for DS. It then gets reviews from editors who are biased or just simply enjoy the game. A 7.5 is disappointing to see for a game like Golden Sun. I thought this game was much better than 4 Heroes of Light and I really don't get why Gamespot didn't just give it an 8.5 like any other Wii game. But that's just their opinion at the end of the day. I love Golden Sun and I want more games for this series! I choose not to kiss up to the scores or reviews from most editors about this game because: "At the end of the day Golden Sun shines ever brighter with my opinion." I think the game is near perfection. But thats just my opinion at the end of the day. What's yours?
