I'm just speechless after playing this game.
Battle System 10/10
The battle system is astounding; the music is intense, the characters and enemies are well-displayed, and, to be honest, the graphics are better than even some Nintendo 64 games! You have several options in battle: Attack, Defend, Use Psynergy, Use Items, Use a Djiin, Summon, or Run. If I had to choose one reason why I like this battle system, it would be because of all these options that it gives you. Nobody likes a boring battle where you and the enemy take turns hitting each other with sticks; and this game answers you need in a fight.
World 10/10
The map screen is beautiful, intricate, and above all, ENORMOUS! It seems like there is almost no boundaries to the map screen. You can venture all across the world; from the freezing mountains of the north, the steaming desert of the south, the dark forests of the east, and the sunny plains of the west. There must be at least 20 towns and locations you can visit, as well. It has that nice, nonlinear quality to it that RPGs are well-known for, but improved vastly. Camelot [The company that made the game] really put great effort into this.
Music 10/10
This game has the best music I've ever heard. Not just in an RPG, not just in a Video game, but anywhere. It's inspiring to even think about. This easily beats by Nobou Umetsu has made. [The composer for the Final Fantasy games]. I really can't accurately describe it with words. Just listen for yourself, and you'll see.
Story 10/10
Rarely do you ever find a game with such an immersive storyline. At some points when I was playing, I forgot I was playing a game; It felt like I was in the story. At first glance, it may seem cliched, but it is far from it. This is one of the most original story lines I have seen.
Challenge 10/10
The puzzles are what make this game so long. Every so often, you'll have to use certain character's abilities to solve difficult puzzles and riddles [Think Legend of Zelda]. Obviously, as the game goes on, the puzzles get more challenging. In fact, if there is on thing wrong with this game, it's that some of the puzzles are too difficult for the casual gamer. It took me days, even a week or to to figure some of the later ones out. If you're a puzzle game fan looking to make the transition over to RPG's, this is a good game to start with.
Extras 10/10
There are a lot of cool extras and secrets in this game. There's even an entire new land you can visit if you know the secret of how to get there! There aren't many side quests besides collecting creatures called Djiin, but you really don't need them. The game's good enough already.
In conclusion, this ranks up as one of the top 2 games I've ever played, along with Kingdom Hearts. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes video games.
TOTAL SCORE: 10/10
