Great game, but not perfect.
But come on people, this game reeks of Jr. High anime fanboy bull@#$#.
It's like they think I have nothing better to do than sit around and watch a flurry of Kaomoji (emotes) fly back and forth. "Wow! Horizontal emotes and sweat drops! I feel so JAPANESE!! KIMOCHI!!!!!" Or maybe you just want to watch some slow animation you can skip. "Hey! Follow me!!".....

.................
GET ON WITH IT!!!!
I am SO SICK of lame preteen heroes. I want to spew.
I also don't think the magic/battle system is really all that. I've seen better. It leaves too much for guessing. After spending a lot of time at it tweaking it, I don't feel like I've really accomplished anything. I just feel like I've wasted a lot of time, and maybe I would have been better off spending the time leveling up.
Key word: frustrating. There are moments I just want to get through all the crap. The dialog and plotting in some places are just AWFUL. The story barely makes sense. These guys are trying to do something.... that kind of makes a lot of sense... and I'm trying to stop him cause he captured my friends... but they are kind of on the other guys side, but they don't like the bad guys either. Why am I doing this again? And then you get to the end, and NOTHING IS RESOLVED.
Of course, they quickly made a sequel, still working on it. I really can't decide if I think it is intentional and genius, or if it was lazy and they are covering their butts with the sequel. Let me finish it and I'll write another review and let you know.
Now, here's the thing, despite the mass of frustrations, I did really enjoy the game. Overall, it DID feel very retro, and overall the pacing was nice. I actually have fond memories of this game. I just think it could have been a lot less annoying. It could have been more mature. The plot could have been better. But it was still a ton of fun to play. The fact that these problems exist, but it still works says a lot.
