Golden Sun is a solid well done RPG on the GBA and is well worth the purchase, just don't expect anything mind blowing..

User Rating: 8.5 | Golden Sun GBA
Golden Sun is Camelot's take on the RPG formula, and is overall a very great game, you will find little to no flaws in it. However, one problem that the game possesses is that it is just too similar to your average RPG.

Golden Sun has a peculiar story, basically these 4 stars that were protected by a village were stolen and they can be used to light 4 lighthouses across the world, and if lit, can cause the destruction of the world. So, your mission is to find the thieves and rescue the stars before they light the lighthouses. It is simple, and it works.

Golden Sun's biggest new take on RPGs is its use of psyenergy. In your average RPG, you have some sort of special attack meter which you can use to use special attacks in battle. The catch here is that you MUST use psyenergy outside of battle. It is similar to the way you use special attacks in the Mario RPGs, but in this game, it actually costs you psyenergy to use it, so it definitely makes the game more realistic and adds a bit of strategy to the game, but it isn't much.

The second new addition it brings to RPGs is Dijnn. In Golden Sun, you can find many Dijnn creatures across the world. The way they are used in battle makes it much more strategic. When Dijnn are not used they raise the stats of whoever has them equipped. When they're abilities are used, the stats of whoever has them lowers, but in return, you get to use their ability and can also summon them for more destructive attacks. Whether to use them and lower your stats or not is all up to you, and it is a neat little feature.

That being said, there really isn't anything else here that hasn't been in other RPGs. It has beautiful scenes of combat and the music is absolutely brilliant, and the game as a whole has great difficulty, great length, and is just a game that really has no flaws whatsoever.

As I said before, Golden Sun is a solid RPG with great music, wonderful graphics, a great length and difficulty, and really has no flaws whatsoever. That said, there isn't much new stuff here so it's a game mostly for any RPG fan or someone just looking for a good game and I would recommend it to anyone! ;)
