Ouch, right in the childhood...
When I was putting in my Goldeneye 007 disc into my 360, I was imagining all the possibilities that could possibly be featured in this game. Will it have all same levels updated? Will it still have the same story? Since I had not read up on the games features at all, which I never do so I can surprise myself with games, I had all these thoughts that were exciting me. Once I got to the main menu, I knew this wasn't going to be the same game, but once the first level started up, I got a glimmer of hope: the Dam level was the first level. The layout was exactly the same and everything, my dreams might be coming true. But then, once I got into the facility, I knew I wasn't playing the same I know and love, I was playing a Call of Duty game.
Since I don't really hate CoD, I'm not going to bash it, but putting the same engine in a James Bond game? That's a no-no. I honestly can't stand iron sights for some reason and the whole regenerating health thing is ridiculous. At least stay true to the original and eliminate that. Rockstar is doing that in Max Payne 3 to stay true to it's previous games, why can't regenerating health just be eliminated, for good? I know there is an option to have the classic Bond mode with the health bars and no regen, but there are literally NO health packs. Which eliminates the game being a fun challenge and just gets frustrating.
There was so much going for this game and it just turned out awful for me. They had a great game in the palm of their hands and squashed it. I feel like I'm playing a Call of Duty game, not a James Bond game.
If you are like me and just want to avoid getting hit right in the childhood, stay away from this game if you loved Goldeneye 007 for N64, because Activision is wiping their arse with disc and putting it in the game cases. If you love Call of Duty, this is up your ally.
