So i dont know what it was about this game, but as kids my crew jumped on this game and we got more competitive then anything i can remember since. I also cant think of a game based on a movie that has ever been so successful or as well done.

Now the single player was very cool. There were a bunch of levels, each difficulty had tons unlocks, and opened up more levels/weapons/skins etc. Alot of weapons, and most weapons had multiple firing modes that were all pretty down to earth as far as their effects. The maps themselves varied in size and scope and once again i feel they did an excellent job with this.

The multiplayer as hinted at above tho is where this game really shined. The trick with this is to force all players to turn their life down to -10 health. This turns this game into a pretty good realistic shooter imo (especially for its time), and the angles in this game you are presented with are a work of art. Theres almost always a way to flank people, but there are great advantages to covering open areas from cover.

Overall the industry has suffered to try and produce rivals to this game. It just hits on so many bases. The length, the breadth, the multi, the unlocks etc. I think this is one of my favorite games of all time. I think it blows away even the perfect dark series which came after it. If you follow any of my reviews im especially critical of fps's if not all games in general, but thats because new games dont have alot of the stuff this old game had on many many levels.

I dont know what it was about this old game, but the multiplayer was something awesome.

The old 4 player split sceen multiplayer games were great if for no other reason then the social aspects, or beign able to punch your buddy to distract him or pay him back for shooting you in game.

RIP golden eye, i miss you every time i see a new fps that pales in comparison to you, which means i miss you alot lol.
