Revolutionized FPS'

User Rating: 9.5 | GoldenEye 007 N64
Goldeneye 007 was released one year after the N64 was released in 1997.
Around this time First Person Shooters (FPS') were fairly new at the time. The only well known FPS' were Wolfenstein 3D and Doom.
Now Doom had already made its release on the N64 earlier the same year and got a very low rating here on Gamespot.
Gamers however had no idea what was coming when Goldeneye came out.
Goldeneye had changed FPS' as much as we knew them since the game had completely changed our view on FPS'.
Upon starting the game you'll take control of James Bond for the first time in 3D and boy were gamers in for a treat! To start the controls in the game were fairly good. It made going around shooting people a breeze, not to mention the fantastic auto-aim that made shooting people especially easy.
However this game was not meant to be a game where you just go around and shoot people to death like crazy. If you aren't familiar with the films: James Bond is supposed to sneak around and be silent such as using the silencer and tactics and thats KINDA how you're supposed to play this game. However if you're more of a crazy shooter that likes to cause havoc then by all means do so, but ONLY in the right situations.
*SPOILERS HERE*
There is a total of 9 missions and each one contains a few levels (depends on what mission you're in) The game isnt long but isnt short either.
The early missions are fairly easy, but the later levels such as Cradle and Jungle can be crazy hard. even on the Agent setting.
There is a total of 3 difficulty settings as well as one secret one.
Depending on which one you pick determines how many objectives you have and how difficult the enemies will be.

Agent: This is the easy mode. You'll get the least amount of objectives that the mission will allow. Plus the enemies will be fairly easy. They will often miss you when they fire and their reaction times will be slowed as well.

Secret Agent: This is the medium difficulty mode. Here you will get at least 1 or 2 more objectives and the enemies will be harder to kill.

00 Agent: This is the hard mode in the game. This is the difficulty that hands you the most objectives to complete as well as very difficult enemies.

007: (This difficulty is unlocked after beating every mission on 00 Agent) This difficulty is quite interesting. It allows you to customize the enemy stats to your liking. if you crank up all the stats to max then you're given the hardest difficulty in the GAME! You still get the same objectives as in 00 Agent but the enemies have risen from hell here. It takes about 12-15 shots to take out an enemy by shooting them in the HEAD! If you plan on choosing this difficulty with max stats then you'd better be ready because you're in for one hell of a challenge!

The amount of weapons in this game is big and some of them are really cool!
From pistols to machine guns to even grenade launchers! This game has a ton!
Overall Goldeneye for N64 is an amazing FPS that holds up even to this day!
Oh i almost forgot! The multiplayer is absolutely amazing!
If you haven't already, invite 3 of your friends over and have a 4-player death-match. Trust me its a hella-fun ;D

I give this game a rockin 9.5 out of 10 :D
