Finally ready for prime time!

User Rating: 9 | Gothic 3 PC
Gothic 3 has always been my favorite open world RPG. My only gripes have been the sloppy, bug friendly coding, and poor performance the game was saddled with when it originally shipped. Since then the game has come a long way. Coupling the most current community patch with current PC hardware this game plays like you dreamed it would.

I recently upgraded my comp to a i7 quad core , 6 gigs of ram, and Windows 7 while keeping my old HD 4850 ATI video card. The game is running great with most video options maxed. The latest community patch, 1.73, elevates this game to its rightful place in the RPG genre.

I can't imagine a fan of open world RPGs not liking this game. No other single player open world RPG has a game universe with the size, scope, diversity, and detail of Gothic 3. In fact I doubt we will see a single player RPG of this magnitude again. Play this game and you will know what I am talking about!

If there is a weak point to the game it is probably the story. Personally I am not a huge fan of deep story telling in my video games, but I know some gamers are. I focus more on exploration, discovery, fun questing, looting, and combat. Gothic 3 delivers big time in all those areas.

Another thing I like about the game is the art style and handcrafted look of the graphics. The game world is very believable and highly detailed. Forts and towns are populated with scores of occupants. The wilderness is stuffed with a cornucopia of dangerous critters while the geography reproduces about every kind of terrain you can imagine.

If you are looking for a single player RPG you can cuddle up to, Gothic 3 is one I would recommend. I enjoy the heck out of it!
