A true hardcore title
As for the game itself, it's a hardcore experience to the edge! What I liked best is that you start the game as nobody and that really means nobody - even the easiest monsters will humiliate you endlessly until you learn how to handle a sword... and I mean ingame, not learning the controls which might be frustrating one too many times, as well. Still as the game progresses and you get used to the interface, Gothic becomes a very rewarding experience. The world is believable and characters feel alive. You actually get to care for the fate of your nameless guy as you do for some of the other characters in the game, especially the ones from the first Gothic and they are many.
I won't comment on the technical aspects of the game as I played it in 2007. However, I must note that it still has some stability issues but they are bareable. Just save often and keep a backup of your saves.
