Don't bother. There are a myriad of racing games that are much better than this.

User Rating: 2.5 | Gran Turismo 3 A-spec (Platinum) PS2
Gran Turismo is one of the most popular racing titles on the market today, and are known for their flashy and long intro videos, multiple cars, and a realistic style. Gran Turismo 3 is, unfortunately, one of the worst racing games available. A 9-10 score is irrelivant for this game. If you don't belive me, see for yourself! Gameplay The core of this game is the 100+ cars and extremely challenging courses. But the first glaring problem of this game is the speed. The spedometer reads 100 MPH, but the car looks like it is going at least 50 MPH. When you go to play a racing game, you want to feel the wind in your hair (this is what Ballistics showed us), not to drive turtles! "The Real Driving Simulator" That's the slogan of the game, right? Your car can't become damaged. Your car barely turns, forcing you to powerslide into every turn, and causing you to hit walls 99% of the time. Your car springs off walls like a bouncy ball. Driving a RUF causes you to be 12 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack while still hitting walls 99.9% of the time. If they can't deliver us a realistic driving experience, they should not show us false advertising. The first time you play, I only have enough credits for a dinky car like a Miata. After I won a race or two, I got enough credits to buy a Toyota. I enter another race and lose. I am then forced to replay levels for more credits to upgrade my car. Still I lose. I replay levels. I get credits. I lose. Repeat. Every time I got a car, I felt like I just completed Gradius 3. Imagine having to complete Gradius 3 100+ times. Graphics The graphics for the cars are supremely detailed. You can see the entire track reflect your car. Amazing. Too bad the trees, rivers, etc look like puzzle pieces. Sound Oh my goodness. This is the absolute worst racing soundtrack ever. You get rap songs that sound like they were recorded underwater. You get tracks with R and B vocals that sound incomprehensible. You get metal songs with poor sound quality. You also get songs that are so noisy and grating that you have absolutely no idea where they came from. The only 3 good songs in this game are: The GT3 Theme Song The Grand Theft Audio song 99 Luftballoons The sound effects are actually pretty good, with appropriate tire, bump and rev sounds. Value None. Even with the 100+ cars. It's not worth it. Recap + Amazing car graphics - Everything else about this game In Conclusion GT3 is a disaster. It has poor physics, incomprehensible music, and unrealistic speed. Buy, Don't Buy, Rent Only, or Don't Bother? Don't Bother
