If You Can Overcome the Tough Gameplay, A-spec is an enjoyable game

User Rating: 8.9 | Gran Turismo 3 A-spec (Platinum) PS2
Gran Turismo has been a strong racing franchise, mostly for its graphics and sound design. Gran Turismo 3: A-spec is the first time the realistic racer got on the PlayStation 2, although at E3 2000, the original version was Gran Turismo 2000, but this updated version had a good name change. Gran Turismo 3: A-spec has without doubt, some of the best looking PS2 visuals, even for an early PS2 game. Once again, it's pumped up with a cool soundtrack ("Def Beat" by Junkie XL is on there, I love that song), and great sound designs, and of course the original courses from the previous GT games, plus some new ones. The cars selection is pretty good with a few good color changes. More cars are avaliable in arcade mode than there were in the previous games.

One thing though is that Simulation Mode has one flaw, and I can respect that you start with little bit of credits to get the only good cars, but there are no used cars in the game, you have to buy new cars. It's a tough choice, but make it right, and you can start off well. However, sometimes the game tends to cheat at points, letting all the other vehicles reach better accelerations at times, but it is still very fun. I just wish the used cars were in there. But the idea of starting with $18,000 was a bit unusual because in all the other ones, you start with $10,000. But that's okay.

Overall, it's a fun game, and should be played. Play good and save that good data for a new Gran Turismo 4 game for a head start. It's a good and fun game.
