I am one of the Gran Turismo faithful. Started with the original and am still with the franchise in it's fourth release. As a matter of fact, my PS2 was the Gran Turismo A-SPEC special edition. Gran Turismo is the only reason why I still have and will continue to have a PS2. It was revolutionary in 1998 and with each subsequent release they have raised the bar another notch for the genre. GT4 is no different. It is truly amazing. I had to force myself to put the controller down at 2am so I could at least get some sleep before having to be at my desk by 8am. I was truly impressed with the game the moment I started GT mode. The license transfer feature returns from GT3, and you may import you "a" and "b" into GT4. I was very glad to see that feature remain. What I was not expecting was being allowed to transfer 100,000 credits from my GT3 save, in addition to the base 10,000 in GT4. My jaw dropped and added a whole new perspective to choosing my first car! 110,000 credits is a lot to work with! ;-) As you would expect from GT, the driving is superb, and once again better than GT3. The new twist of the B-Spec racing mode is fantastic. The fact that I can manage an AI driver and watch a Live broadcast of the race is outstanding. It is at times frustrating when the AI driver fails to pass on a strait or in a turn that you know would have been a cinch, but for the most part, the AI driver does respond to your management commands. He will even spin out if you have him push too hard for too long. The final thing that impressed me so far are the even wider array or custom parts and accessories you can add to your cars. Being able to add adjustable wings to all cars is an excellent addition and the tuner shops are quite nice. The upgrades they offer pretty much double up with the manufacturer shops, but I have noticed them offering some bonus upgrades the manufacturer shop does not. The Tuner and Manufacturer full custom cars are a sweet addition as well. I could go on and on about the new features and what I love, but if you are a Gran Turismo fan, you will not be disappointed in GT4. The only bad thing that really stood out to me were a few graphic twitches on the race results screens. It all boils down to this. If you are a Gran Turismo Fan, you need this game! If you are a racing fan and you own a PS2, but have never played Gran Turismo (shame on you), you need this game. Buy it! Live it! Love it!
