Gran Turismo 4 doesn't change or add much, but still remains the best racing sim $50 can buy.

User Rating: 9.2 | Gran Turismo 4 PS2
The Gran Turismo series is loved by many and disliked by very few. It has sold millions and millions of copies worldwide and is the car fan's ultimate dream game. Gran Turismo 4 continues this tradition by offering over 650 cars, 51 tracks, and two cool new modes. Not much has been changed, just more has been added and refined, which makes this release a bit of a dissapointment, but ultimately still a wonderfully fun racing game. Gameplay: This is where the Gran Turismo series has always been the best. Car physics and handling are superb. Controls are easy to learn yet will take time to master. Everything offered in GT4's gameplay is top-notch and the best you will find in any racing game on any console. One major dissapointment is the lack of online play, which was scrapped so the game could be released sooner. While this is somewhat understandable, it's still dissapointing and the only major flaw in this title. Graphics: If you do not have a HDTV, go buy one now. This game runs flawlessly in 1080i mode and 480p. This is the first game for any console that supports the highest resolution available on HDTV's (1080i) and it runs it without a hiccup in the frame-rate. Car models are perfectly crafted, and the environments are beautiful and detailed. The only negative aspect of the graphics are some slightly muddy textures which really rear their ugly head in 1080i mode. Sound: Car sounds are realistic and sound great. Dobly Digital II is supported and the music for the most part is pretty decent. Value: There is so much to do in GT4. With a roster of cars that will take forever to accumulate, and a ton of tracks, there is easily 250+ hours of gameplay here. Bottom Line: Still the best, but there's gonna have to be some major updates with GT5, namely online play, to remain on top.
