More cars, more tracks, that's it. Those who say this is an improved version of GT3 are dead wrong and here's why...

User Rating: 6.9 | Gran Turismo 4 PS2
Before I say more, I'll specify that my specialty in gaming is racing. I'm a fan of all genres but I'm getting older and my interest in games is fading slowly but I've always and will always be a racing game addict. I've played every racing game on ps2 and PC that was worth playing and I can tell you right away Gran Turismo 4 is far down my list. To simplify things I'll just write it in point form. + beautiful graphics + photo mode + races for specific cars in each car dealership + plenty of tracks - too many useless cars (nike 2022 car?????, chrysler motor carriage 1 HP???????) - too many 60's and 70's car tournaments - same crappy A.I. that follows the same line - no car damage!!! - same resell value as its initial purchase even after spending $200 000 of upgrades on it - 1000 miles tournament and endurance races...who has that much time to waste - compared to more adrenaline-packed arcade games like burnout, midnight club, and need for speed, Gran Turismo 4 seems so slow, yet it seems so difficult to hit the simplest curve, especially with ''standard or sports tires required'' races. - compared to nfs, burnout, and MC, GT4 has the most pathetic soundtracks - why not make a seperate rally license instead of sticking some in each license? - nurbergrund takes 8 to 15 minutes a lap. Who can memorize a race with 86 curves in a single lap. Poligophony, you people are just crazy. All in all, Gran Turismo 4 is in my opinion a bitter dissapointment. After the new wave of racing games mentioned above with blazing speeds, great fun, open cities to drive around, billions of possibilities of car tuning and modeling, damage models, about 50 good looking licensed cars in most games, etc... GT4 seems like a long long long long game to complete with no perticular moment when you'll say this game is amazing and a blast to play. I can't emphasize how big a dissapointment this game was to me. I enjoyed gran turismo 3, but instead of improving the flaws of the 3rd game, gran turismo 4 stuck with the same flaws, tried to build on its slight qualities and just added too many cars in the game for nothing. It might be nice for a rental between friends just to admire the graphics and so on, but there are so many better racing games out there. Midnight Club 3 especially, NFSU2, Burnout 3, and most likely enthusia and Juiced are or will all will be more fun and enjoyable than this piece of junk with incredible graphics. Do Not Buy This game.
