So Close To Reality
User Rating: 9.8 | Gran Turismo 4 PS2
I enjoy hearing people complaining about things that really shouldn't matter. So sad that this game lacks damage right, since that's such an important thing. I don't know about all of you out there, but I enjoy watching these beautiful, perfect prototypes of cars we either see on a daily basis, on television, or even drive. The AI bumping through turns, that's Gran Turismo tradition, like they say in Nascar "Rubbin is Racing". Let's get to the positive aspects. The tracks look fantastic and ungodly realistic. The cars the same. 650 cars? That's plenty. I still am upset over the fact that some cars really have no point in the game and there are others that could have been put in (Trans Am). The biggest annoyance for me about this game is the fact that about a third of the cars, you can't race, and you can't sell. That would make it easier to get more money, but that just means you get to input more effort into the game. The soundtrack is by-far the worst one out of 2 and 3. I have my love for Van Halen and Satriani, so that's cool. The license tests are longer but not as hard. Multiplayer is still kind of lame, mainly because matching up cars is a pain, but playing over a LAN is very cool. The behind camera view could have been a better angle, but overall it's tolerable. On some of the city tracks, the screen will become jagged, especially on the tokyo night track, but that's pushing the PS2 to its limits. This game is the best out of the 4, just a step above 2. It's the closest opportunity to driving a Dodge Viper if you don't own it. However, the V-8's still don't sound like V-8's, that's a problem Forza doesn't have.
