One of the best driving games out on the PS2

User Rating: 9.3 | Gran Turismo 4 PS2
Gran Turismo 4 has over 700 cars and 50 courses to drive on. What make this one of the best driving game on the PS2 are the excellent visuals and accurate physics to the real life counter parts. There are 2 modes, the arcade mode and the Gran Turismo Mode. The arcade mode is where you simply start races easily, with you or a friend however, the main game is the Gran Turismo mode, where you can buy cars, race and win money. Winning money allows you to process the game and buy new cars and parts.

Some races require you to have a specific license. You earn these licenses by completing tests in the game, which adds to the challenge. There are a variety of races, from one-make races to endurance races, which can last for hours. As it’s a driving simulation game, you can buy parts and tune your vehicle to improve the performance, this is good because it can give you a huge advantage in winning races. The new mode in the game is the “B-Spec Director” mode is where you have an AI driver controlling your car and you can tell the computer to change paces and to over take the other racers in a race. You can also change the speed of the race up to three times faster. Which can be helpful if you wish to finish off the extremely long races quicker, but it takes the fun out of completing the game. Disappointment in the game is the dumb AI and some cars in the game weren’t allowed to race. Polyphony also promised online play and damage to the vehicles, but never made it in this game. Without crash damage, the game encourages dull driving. There are a lot of extras that were worth trying out, such as photo shoot and driving missions. As for completing the game, it may take you months to complete and with over 700 cars to choose from and 50 courses to drive, it a huge game, which makes this one of the best driving games to play.
