A stunning representation of racing and cars in general. GT4 is an addictive and fulfilling experience for the PS2.
The most outstanding feature of GT4 is the graphics, ultra-realistic and practically the PS2’s best performance so far, GT4 sets the bar for visual presentation. All the cars look absolutely spot-on, tracks are stunningly detailed and the lighting is perfect. There is barely any slow-down because there are only six racers on a race at one time, which is slightly disappointing if you want larger scale races.
GT4 offers the most realistic car physics ever made, each and every car handles how they should and they even sound realistic. Speaking of sound, the soundtrack can be good or bad; depending on your tastes, you might enjoy some songs and hate others (you can turn off music if desired). On other revamped features of GT4, the settings menu for each car allows you to fine tune things like the suspension, clutch & gear ratios to make each ride feel more comfortable. Another new addition includes B-spec mode, a different approach to each race. Instead of you controlling the car, An A.I. driver controls the car, with you issuing orders on how to race without actually driving yourself. This is a welcome change but often feels too easy and less challenging.
This game is a must for any racing & car enthusiast, offering realistic physics, plenty of cars & tracks and stunning graphics. There is almost endless replay value with multiplayer, LAN support and a fantastic photo mode that allows you to travel around the world and snap some of your favourite cars. Overall GT4 is a technical marvel with few flaws with satisfying gameplay that gives you a sense of achievement once you get going.
