Great Gran Turismo game, if you're really a fan of racing sims, GET IT! If you're not then you'll probably be turned off
But these are the few flaws I either really have a problem with or can see other people having problems with"
* Shadows. They look like Atari 2600 blocks in your car and on the track sometimes. This may have to do with hardware limitations since it requires Anti-Aliasing at 1080p resolution which is very computing heavy. Really it isn't something I pay attention to but it is noticeable.
* Load times. This may have been reduced somewhat since the 1.02 patch released on November 27th, I even noticed the loading bar doesn't even go quarter of the way anymore during Championship races. It could be further reduced by disconnecting from PSN but I haven't tried that myself.
* Standard/Premium Cars. Not really an issue to me, but there is a noticeable difference between the quality of the standard cars vs premium cars. The cars still look good but no questioning which ones look better graphically. Standard cars also have no interior view nor can they be customized with exterior body parts as much (performance modifications remain true to the vehicle).
* Level Progression for a lot of things to open up. Again, this is not a problem for me but when you can't unlock full damage modeling until you are around level 30 or can't fully adjust gear ratio in the lower levels it is going to be a problem for those who aren't going to be as dedicated to this game as the hardcore GT fans.
Overall, Gran Turismo 5 is definitely not "the perfect game", but it only came to that assumption because of it's lengthy development time, something I don't think anybody should label any game. Aside from what I mentioned there is a good number of other things I could list that I think Polyphony need to spend the next few months rectifying. But it is still a great driving simulator as many other critical reviews will point out but it falls short in the parts that make it a game. The critic reviews will also point out that GT5 is a game for car nuts and unfriendly to casuals, which I agree with somewhat. If you wanted Gran Turismo though, you will be getting just that with this game, and I'm sure the majority of GT fans will be happy for that.
