Like somebody said, Gran Turismo 5 is a little underrated here in GameSpot. This game is great!
First Impression
When you first start the game, first you have to download all the updates to date, where goes around 1 hour and a half. Then you have to install the game, what takes around 50 minutes. But you don´t have to do the install. The game just loads longer if you don´t install it. Well, it is certain that it gives you a very bad first impression. But you should not care about it. When you first drive it, you realise how cool the game is.
The Game Play
The game play is very good and realistic. Cars act very naturally, especially when driving with a steering wheel. There is very sharp controls even with controller pad. The graphics aren't so bad either. In fact, they are brilliant. Cars are photo-realistic, maybe because of they all have at least 200 000 polygons. The most photo-realistic cars have 500 000 polygons. But there is bad things about the graphics too. The car turns to pixel porridge when smoke hits it. And tracks could be a little more detailed.
The Multiplayer
There is an online multiplayer up to 16 players and a split screen, what was very good thing, because these days there is not much games with splitscreen/one console multiplayer games. In the online it does not lag much, but the lobby is a bit of outdated. Karting is very fun in online play.
The Car and track list
There is lots of different cars in the game, including McLaren, Lamborghini, Mitsubishi and Ferrari. There is cars from racing to farmers.
The track list includes tracks like Nürburgring, Autodromo Nazionale Monza and Circuit de La Sahtre. The track list is pretty small, so I think that good additions would be Jarama for example.
Overall
Overall it is very good game.
Somebody who can ignore the small flaws of the game, I recommend.
