Portable always has a price.

When fr picked up Gran Turismo PSP, I was elated at the concept of being able to play my favorite racing series anywhere I pleased. However, as I began my first foray into GT's portable world, my elation slowly turned down a notch as disappointment set in.

Where did this disappointment come from? Primarily from all of the limitations. You don't have many cars to choose from and those that you do have you can only buy on certain days (dealers change each day). This fact wouldn't be quite so bad if I had customization options for my cars but do I? Hardly! As far as I can tell, I can't even change the color of my car (though I haven't really tried). These facts wouldn't be quite so bad for the normal racer seeing as how you can still race but the single player racing mode gets old fast with a limited number of events and tracks.

Here is where I stop bashing the game and look at its high points.
One plus is definitely the gorgeous graphics. For a portable game they're quite stunning and they're what set this game apart from any Need for Speed game.
Another great "feature" of sorts is the improved tightness of the controls. In past titles I've cursed the controls system out for its lackluster response but the system in GT PSP works like a dream.

Despite some limited options, this racer stands from the pack if for no other reason than it was designed better than those before it. if you're a fan of racers or of Gran Turismo specifically, I strongly recommend this title. If you're just a gamer looking for your next fix, I recommend staying away from this game and going for a shooter or something.
