Ahh GTA is back in 2D was the first thing that came to my head when I heard that GTA Advance was going to be released. I didn't own GameBoy Advance when the game was released so I just sat down and thought about how the game would be.

It didn't took me a long time to figure that the game was probably not that great graphically looking because of the GameBoy Advance computer, but I don't have a high standard for graphics. But just recently I got my hands on a copy of GTA Advance and I began playing right away.

The game takes place in Liberty City and the story in the game takes place in 2000 a year before GTA III. The main character, Mike, is a really small time gangster when you begin playing. He doesn't like to fight and wants backup to kill three guys. But of course that changes, we all know that you do a lot of killing in GTA.

The main thing that I want from a game that it's nice to play and you dig the story. Because there are fewer buttons on GBA than for example PS2 there are some tricky ways to do what you want to do but eventually you get used to it.

Sometimes you spend a lot of time standing next to a car and pressing the button to get into the car but nothing happens. Then you have to move and try again, this is irritating but eventually you figure it out where it's best to place yourself when you're going to steal a car.

But the biggest thing that irritates you while you play GTA Advance is that there is no way of killing a guy with a gun if he wants you dead. The guy runs towards you (often with a bat or just his fists) and begins attacking you. The guy is too close for you to shoot him, so you have to run away from him try to be quick enough to get a shot at him before he gets you and aiming in GTA in 2D is very tricky. My solution to this problem was just grabbing a bat and kill him with it, much easier and you don't loose all your health. You can also just drive over the guy but often the game takes you out of your car to show you the guy you are supposed to kill.

Other gameplay is good and it's nice playing the game but it has often been more fun driving in a GTA game than in this one.

Because the main owners of GameBoy Advance are young kids, Rockstar didn't include as much violence or swearing in GTA Advance as the usual GTA game has. The police is so lazy and easy that you might think that you were playing a kids game.

The storyline of the game is rather boring considering this is a GTA game. This is the only game from Rockstar that I have played that doesn't thrill me for weeks with the storyline.

Considering the GameBoy Advance console the game looks good. I'm a huge GTA fan and I love these games. GTA Advance is of course a must play for the hardcore fans but if you are just a semi GTA fan then this is a GTA game that you should miss. Parents, if your kid is screaming for a GTA game, then give him this one.

GTA Advance takes the main idea from GTA 1 and 2 and blends in some ideas from GTA III, so if you liked the 2D GTA games then you should definitely buy this game. I would want to see this game for PC or PlayStation but that's not going to happen.
