I remember that for a while my gaming life was in a funk. I played games but was usually bored with them, as they all seemed the same. Then I got Grand Theft Auto 3 and was absolutely entranced. It was a long sprawling game that allowed you to do whatever you want. You could cause mayhem just for the sake of causing mayhem. The game had a strange anarchic glee to it, in the same way the movie fight club did, and was incredibly witty and savage at times. I would play this game for hours on end, all through the night. It had some flaws and graphically wasn't the greatest, but as far as sheer fun in gaming, it was second to none. A few technical problems and graphical glitches are the only thing that keep this game from getting a perfect score, but when it comes down to just pure, unadulterated fun in a game, I haven't found one that comes close to GTA3 and it's sequels.
