*****HOOPSTAR789's REVIEW ON GRAND THEFT AUTO III

User Rating: 9 | Grand Theft Auto III PS2
Ok, so the game that started it all, the first 3D GTA game that made a huge impact in the gaming world in late 2001, and to this day, is just as amazing as it was in 2001.
1.GRAPHICS- Well, the graphics, it really does show the age of this game, The Charcter Models all look a bit blocky, some of the weapon models also just look 2D, and the loading of the graphics to each island is heavily present here, but lets talk about the good, The city looks alive, There is plenty of pedestrian models, different car models, different styles of the area on each island, and all together, the city looks fantastic, especially to see the PS2 running that much back in 2001. The weather effects s also a nice touch to the Graphics section. Overall, Grand theft Auto 3 does show its age, but it is still the same old Liberty City that we all once loved.
2.GAMEPLAY- The controls in this game is smooth, If your coming from Grand theft Auto IV, then the controls might take a little while to get back to adjusting to, but if you have been Retro and havent left the GTA 3 engined games, playing this game will be no problem, But the controls do suffer a little, the auto aiming in this game can be a bit clunky and target the wrong person instead, and sometimes you will target someone and not really be able to shoot at them, for your charcter does some weird arm movements and shoots into the air or ground. The driving is really arcardey, Don't expect the Realastic driving that later Grand theft Auto games have. But lets talk more about the gameplay, the gameplay is fluent, there is plenty to do, and when I mean plenty, I mean it, there is literally dozens of missons at your disposal. From saving people as a para-medic, killing criminals while being a vigalante, or just being a mindless killing machine and taking out as many people as you can before the cops cap you. This game is jampacked with roughly 30-50 hours of gameplay, depending on your skill. Some of the bonus missions may seem repetive, but not to the point where you become bored with the game, seeing that you earn rewards for beating a mission to a specfic level. The gameplay here is grade A.
3.MUTIPLAYER- N/A
4.STORY- The story here is simple ***SPOILER ALERT*** You rob a bank with your accomplice Catalina, she betrays you and leaves you for dead, your convicted and are sent to the county jail, but on your way there some stuff went down along the Callahan Bridge, causing it to blow up, only leaving you, and a black man named 8-ball. From there, you can do one of two things, progress through the Story, or completly ignore it and do whatever you like. But the story is kinda the typical Mafiaoso Goodfellas style story. It is very interesting with outstanding voice actors backing up the people you will meet along the way. Overall, the Story is something I want to leave untouched becasue it is something that all gamers should experience at least once. But I will say that I did enjoy the story, it had alot of variety in it and Some of my favorite moments in gameing came from the game's story.
5.SOUNDTRACK- If I can tell you one game that has a perfect 10 soundtrack, this game has earned it. Grand theft Auto III's radio stations make a big portion of the game, just how much detail and work Rockstar put into all the radio stations the game has to offer is truely an achivement for them. The Music, commercials, and radio talk shows are all amusing and a joy to listen to and I belive Rockstar would be successful if they were a Radio Station. Other then that, the sounds within the game are also pretty good, some of the weapon sounds are a little more to be desired, but the sounds of the car, people talking on the street, and sound of the city is outstanding.
6.OVERALL- Overall, Grand theft Auto III is still an amazing game, I personally think it is Rockstar's legacy game and this is one of the few games that I would keep coming back to over and over again. The game is also incredibley cheap and you can find it in bargin bins for prices arund 3-10 dollars, and if you have never experienced Grand theft Auto III, I just say pick it up and play it, Is worth your money, trust me. Grand theft Auto III gets a high 9 out of 10
