Again, gamespot overrates a game. It isn't a bad game, but you can't compare it with it's predecesors.

User Rating: 7 | Grand Theft Auto IV PC
I'm sorry I have to start like this, but this game lacks something, that something that made the other games in the series so special and fun to play. This game lacks variety; you get to do mostly the same stuff mission after mission: drive, shoot and kill. The other gta games weren't like this. Of course there was a lot of shooting and killing but there were also some missions that relied on to something else in order to complete them. I'm talking about stealing a tank, driving a bike through the sewers, piloting rc helicopters, planes and cars, using dirt bikes, sailing, flying, parachuting, diving and much more I can't remember. If you are familiar with this things, then you know what made a gta game so good, the out of the ordinary part, the ''fantastic'' stuff. In this game, apart of 4 or 5 good missions that didn't even get close to what they should have been, the rest felt shallow. The motive is always different because the story evolves, but you just find yourself doing the same thing again and again. The story has to lose here also, because it feels like a grim tale. As you do nothing special, you feel it isn't really special, just a common drama based on betrayal and deception. The lack of variety comes in another way, the limited choices of customization. You cannot get a haircut, no car customization, no tattoos, and since it's supposed to be a cold season in US, at least they could have made it snow or something. And the rural part is also missing, they could have implemented that in the form of a small exotic island near the city.
There are some technical problems here and there, the graphics are not technically proficient, some bugs, glitches, most of them were fixed with the patches but the poor performance on lower spec systems isn't good.
That's enough on the bad side of the game. The cutscenes are awesome, the sound and voiceacting si solid, gameplay mechanics work well, driving feels quite realistic, good physics. Apart from it's flaws, it isn't a bad game, but still more then dissapointing for a fan.

Graphics/design: 7/10 Nothing above the ordinary here, good graphics overall but with very bad proficiency, the system requirements are waay to high.

Sound/music/voice acting:7/10 Everything feels alive in the big city, great soundtrack, perfect voice acting but weapons sound awfull, its like you shoot in a can, a repeated mistake and Niko doesn't have a good voice, it just sounds awfull.

Gameplay: 8/10 All is good, some problems with the cover system, and the cars that brake in over 100 yards are stupid. it doesn't happen like that in reality.

Story: 6/10 Mediocre urban drama with traitors, snitches and bad guys.Because nothing special happens, you feel like a hitman most of the game.

So, it's like this: good graphics ruined by bad performance, great sound and music but the weapons sound like in the '70s, above average gameplay, a story that's common to B rated movies and a repetetive and boring action from the beggining to the end. Not a bad game for a kid that just discovered the pc, but I repeat, it's more then dissapointing for a fan.

So the score is 7 (SEVEN)
