GTA: Liberty City Stories is free-roaming heaven that exploits the PSP's power to its full potential!

User Rating: 8.5 | Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Greatest Hits) PSP
GTA: Liberty City Stories is the ultimate free-roaming experience, allowing the player to play this game absolutely anywhere! Apart from several control flaws, GTA: Liberty City Stories is a highly entertaining game. GTA: LCS returns to Liberty City, prior to the arrival of Tommy Vercetti. You maintain control of my favourite character from GTA 3, Toni Cipriani. Within this title, you will encounter many familiar characters (the most familiar being Salvatore Leone) during your journey through Liberty City. The graphics are firm, equivalent to GTA 3, and the dialogue is fantastic, humorous and violent. The storyline, with previous titles, fades fast, only to return again near the game's conclusion. However, this isn't a major problem because many objectives are surprisingly enjoyable. Another strong factor of GTA: LCS is the brilliant soundtrack. Tonnes of chart-topping tunes from the 90's are present, ranging from relaxing reggae to extremely cheesy pop (of which I am not a great fan of). Throughout Liberty, you will discover a whole variety of vehicles, all rather fun to cruise (or storm) through Liberty with. Liberty City itself is large, pushing the PSP to its limits. GTA: LCS features an amazing multiplayer mode, giving you the chance to destroy your friends in a whole range of different multiplayer games.

Unfortunately, the lack of another analogue stick means managing the camera is an awkward affair. To maintain control of the camera, you are required to pull L and move the analogue stick to inspect your environment. Whilst using the camera, you are unable to move Toni. It's actually rather frustrating. Another bad point is the disappearance of aircraft. Not even the slightest hint of a helicopter, which is fairly disappointing. Overall, a strong title perfectly crafted to suit the PSP. A great investment!
