The reason to have a PSP...
The game almost always allows for two or more parallel stories which allow you to take a step back from any failed missions and try again refreshed. Of course, what makes Liberty City (and all other GTAs) great is the ability to simply wander around in search of side missions, hidden packages and weapons, or to just have fun; there is much joy to be found in ramping up your wanted meter and trying your best to avoid a Helicopter, SWAT, and Cops with spike strips on your way to a Paint-n-Spray.
The graphics are about on par with GTA3 or Vice City, but they look pretty good on the PSP’s display. There are a few glitches, but many are barely noticeable. The sound complements the game play nicely, but doesn’t really stand out. The radio stations offer a broad range of programming and if you play sparingly you may not even notice the same program twice.
All the vehicles handle in their own distinct fashion and as such taking the right ride on a mission can help to turn the tide in your favor. Many handle too generously, but this adds to the fun in my opinion. My favorite car, the Patriot, handles very well for such a mammoth SUV, has a unique ability of righting itself after being rolled, can take a lot of punishment, but sometimes will do a running black-flip if one strikes oncoming motorcycles in the right fashion. Physics problems like this are easily over looked because it quickly turns from an annoyance into a challenge to do it again.
Overall this game is perfect for someone who likes the seemingly never-ending game play the GTA series offers or for anyone who wishes to just find the largest vehicle available, run amok, and let the Liberty City Police Department pick up the tab.
