Simply the greatest game for the Playstation 2 thus far
That was until Grand Theft Auto: Vice City came out. Tommy Vercetti was an instant anti hero, the missions had far more substance, the maps where much better to look at and there was much more to do. The ultimate RPG, San Andreas will just be the same, surely?
How wrong I was. This has to be the greatest game that Rockstar has ever produced so far and ulitmately the greatest game the Playstation 2 has ever seen.
When I first started to play this game I wasnt as impressed as I was with Vice City. The City of San Andreas was just as impressive yes, but Carl Johnson (Or CJ) just didnt have the same appeal as Tommy Vercetti which is something I still hold to this day.
CJ returns from Liberty City to avenge his mothers death and bumps into his old pals in the hood as well as his brother Sweet. The missions are probably more realistic to real life Ghetto suburbs with plenty of gang battles to keep you occupied. I found most of them enjoyable if not a little frustrating at times.
Most of the missions are about the same as Vice City, a few suck, a few are ok and other rock. So what sets this apart from the rest?
Its the sheer size of the game. The fact that you can go to the gym to increase your muscle size, you have to eat to keep healthy and if you eat too much fatty food you become fat which hampers your ability to fight. The fact you can go around and change clothes whenever you feel like it, and you can combine various clothing to create a unique style. Add to that the new elements of the game such as the gang warfare where you kill rival gangs to get more power in your hood and gain more money, and also the first mission where you have to take to the streets on your Bicycle!
When you get bored of playing in the city you can go and have a stroll in the countryside and visit some of the less populated suburbs, how about trying to speed past a car on the freeway with your tractor, or why not go for a swim in the sea - thats right folks, you can swim!
There is so much in this game its almost unbelievable, from avoiding the police on your bicycle, hiring your homeboy's to have a drive by and take out a rival gang, Have a swim, Go round your girlfriends for 'coffee' or take a combine harvester and cause havoc in the streets the is unlimited hours of fun and mayhem within this game.
If you dont like this game I will be suprised. A must for any person.
