Arguably one of the best portable game ever made.

User Rating: 9.3 | Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories PSP
The GTA franchise comes once again to Vice City with this game. You play as Victor Vance (Lance's brother) who is kicked out of the army onto the streets and is trying to make a clean living, but in Vice City the only way to make a decent living is to kill, sell drugs and combine the two in many ways. The story is set two years before the actual Vice City game (1984) and Lance and Victor as in other GTA games, try to take over the city.

The game's gameplay is like all other GTA games: Third person Shooter along a driving game with a huge city in which you can free roam in and do various tasks which are called missions. They vary from killing to driving around town. Victor is able to swim and even fly planes and helicopters around town. Missions in the game are interesting and have some excellent humor which is impossible not to laugh at. For the first time ever not only you can swim but people as well, yes normal people swim as well. The vehicles in this game are many and you can jack cars, trucks, motorbikes, steal planes and boats. For the first time ever in the GTA franchise R* have introduced Jetskis the game. Weapons are as good as ever and there are no new weapons in the game. The auto-aim feature is a little buggy as always, you sometimes target on people you don't want to. There are also some minor bugs in the game which are many: going though doors of cars when they are open, going though certain trees and sometimes you can go though buildings. The game has some serious loading time problems, not the loading times between the islands but the loading times of the game when it comes to loading the buildings. Buildings only appear detailed when you are close enough to appreciate them. GTA: Vice City Stories has a completely new feature: Empire Building, this consists on taking up enemy businesses and setting up your own businesses from a choice. There are 30 businesses to take and can earn you some serious money if you take them all which you can spend it in buying weapons. However if you angry a gang by taking there businesses they will attack you back but this is frustrating since they attack you often, but luckily there is a little trick to end these attacks which is not a cheat. Save, quit and reload your game completely and they will leave you alone. Surely this requires time and patience but in the end the money that you earn daily is huge, trust me.

There are also many great pastimes you can play in the game which are: Vigilante missions (killing criminals), Air Rescue (rescue people from your helicopters and take them to hospital), Paramedic (getting people to hospitals with an ambulance), Beach Patrol (Knocking gang members from their bikes or rescue people in danger at sea), Firefight, Taxi Driver, Vice Sights (taking tourist around Vice City to take photos of the place), Crims on Wings ( Going though loops in a given amount of time), Skywolf (Destroy things with a hunter). As always a GTA game has hidden items which can be found to unlock weapons this time balloons. These mini-games are temporary distractions from the main game and will keep you occupied for a long time (until you get really bored of them that is.) Graphics have improved from GTA: Liberty City Stories for the PSP and the animation is better, fewer bugs are present (although some have remained there). R* said that there will be less clumping of pedestrians and cars and with pedestrians, well you won't see two people dressed the same and have the same skin in the same time, but with cars, this is also done but sometimes there are 2 cars of the same type after each other but this is something really minor. The new water effects are brilliant with speedboats and Jetskis and seem almost real, this means that the spray of water that jetski and boat motors do has been mastered by R* and is more realistic than ever. During the videos the hands of the characters are not clumped into a fist but have five fingers, during the game the characters fingers are more clumped into each other. Vic and the main characters are detailed perfectly. The sound in GTA: Vice City Stories is excellent and has and excellent 80's soundtrack. The sound is animated perfectly and the original characters from GTA: VC are present as well. For the first time ever a superstar singer stars in this game: Phil Collins, yes!, with his voice as well. There are 9 radio stations which play verious tunes ( over 100 licensed music tracks) and some have good humor as ever. Talk shows are great but lacking Lazlow in VCPR because he's in V-Rock, I missed his talk-shows because they are always so funny and great.

Multiplayer in GTA: Vice City Stories can be played Via Wi-fi and has some great game modes as well. Vice City Survivor (Just a normal death-match), Street Rage (Street Racing), Protection Racket (Playing with a team, attacking or defending your territory from your opponents), Taken for a Ride (Like capture the flag but stealing a car and returning it to your base), Tanks for the memories (a tank is somewhere, the team that spends the most time in the tank wins, watch out for the rocket launchers though), Grand Theft Auto (stealing cars and selling them), Hit List ( A player will try to defend himself, others will try to hunt him down), VIP RIP (The VIP will try to collect 5 briefcases, the others will try to kill them), Might of the Hunter (just like the Tanks for the memories but with a hunter instead) and finally Empire Takedown (taking explosives and exploding the enemy premesis)

GTA: Vice City Stories is a great game and should be played by anyone looking for a good game for his PSP, if you are a fan you will enjoy this 100% even if you aren't a fan you will enjoy this as well.

Good: The game has interesting missions, great storyline, a great soundtrack and has everything that makes it a good GTA game.

Bad: Bugs and Glitches can be frustrating at times.
