Where to start? Firstly, this is the only game that got me away from Metal Gear: Portable Ops and thats saying something

User Rating: 9 | Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories PSP
Firsty, i'd just like to say how much better this game is than it's predecessor: 'Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories". This game seems to take GTA to an entire new level, it has several elements that make it stand out from other games. The most noticeable is the fact that you no longer sit back and collect money from outside the shop, or whatever you own, after you've done a few initial missions. Now you have to actually maintain and defend your business sites. One of the other little differences is the abilty to buy back your confiscated weapons with a healthy bribe after you've been busted or wasted.

Now onto the actual review:

Graphics:
Not a huge step up from Liberty City but it's such a huge game that if the graphics were any better, the PSP wouldn't be able to handle it. Besides, nobody has ever really complained about GTA's graphics.

Sound:
All the ambience noises are there, people talking (or screaming, as you pull and AK-47 out on them) and the cars all make fairly realistic sounds. I have to admit, though, that the radio in this game was a bit of a let down. There are as many radio stations as ever but each one only has a few songs and, while the music quality is good, the lack of selection is disappointing. There is, however, a small work-around. If you don't mind spending time converting your audio files then ypu can listen to your own music in the game. I found that this nag on the games atmosphere, though. If you have modern music in an ol setting, it just doesn't feel right.

Gameplay:
Great. Thoroughly great. I've always loved GTAs gameplay. You can go out and do whatever you want. here are also missions, which move the game forward. The missions in this game are very original. I've even had a few friends comment on the originality of this games missions. It's not the normal "go here, pick this up, bring it back" type of thing. Most of the missions are very in-depth but are still short enough for you to enjoy while your on the go.

Story:
Ah...the story. I've always found the story has been Rockstar's letdown but, with this game, they managed to prove me wrong. It's fairly in-depth, it's long, has some well-ploaced plot twists and, above all, is actually entertaining to play through.

Difficulty:
Just right, really. You jump in, it explains a few simple things and, assuming you don't get into too much trouble with the cops, you can stay alive fairly easily. The game's missions tend to get considerably harder as you progress through the game, but it's not so much that it overwhelms you.

That's it, I think. If I think of anything else, i'll be sure to add it in. Before I go, i'd like to thank you for reading this and I hope that it was helpful to you.
