User Rating: 9.8 | Grand Theft Auto: Vice City PS2
A sequel to GTA3 had a lot to live up to. The game was such a landmark title for gaming that a sequel would have a hard time livng up to it. But GTA: Vice City did it and was a better game for it. The game could be seen essentially as an expansion pack as the gameplay is basically the same as GTA3 only with some changes and improvements. But the game does improve all that was wrong with GTA3 and perfects the formula. The games also different in its setting which is now in 1980s florida. The 80s may be a cause for concern for some as its hardly a decade to look back at with pride but VC does the job of realistically recreating the 80s for all its good and bad. The graphics do this with great design of locations and fashions. The graphics aren't the best as youd expect from Rockstar but they are an improvement from GTA3's rather foggy design and at times are amazing. From the weather to the buildings, beaches and waters Rockstar has done the job. The game's sound is what most important about this game. It's soundtrack is truly impressive. All the 80s music you'd expect and then some. There's mega-hits, one hit wonders, novelty songs and undiscovered gems. The soundtrack is unbelievably briliant. The songs play on radio stations filled with variety and humour. The voice acting is also amazing. There are so many well known actors here who perform with great enthusiasm with stylishly written dialogue. The game's plot has more depth then before and action packed, its just as impressive as the gameplay. All this adds up to a game that will last a life time. There is so much to do with unlimited replay value. The game's a masterpiece, pure and simple, one of the greatest games of all time, every respectable gamer should own this at all costs.
