Good MMORPG, but missing some of the elements that made the first Guild Wars great...

This game is a great game and if you have played the first Guild Wars, then you would like this sequel. However, they did not transfer some of the features of the first Guilds Wars into the second, which made Guild Wars 2 feel more like a regular MMORPG. Since this game plays like a typical MMORPG, I am only going to point out the flaws of the games or the should of been in Guild Wars 2 that made Guild Wars 1 unique.

One of the biggest thing about the first Guild Wars that I like was that the level was cap-ed at level 20, which means that I didn't have to play the whole storyline/PvE just to get to the highest level. Also, that meant that for addition characters, I didn't have to go through the same work to get characters to level 20. However, in Guild Wars 2, they totally messed it up. I have one character at level 80 and the other characters aren't even close--I simply gave up because I am not going to take the time to get to that level; it's just not worth it.

The class system became more like a typical MMORPG, where if you pick that class from the start, those are the only skills you are going to be able to perform forever. Unlike the second, the first GW could have a primary and a secondary class and still use all the skills that the secondary class could. And because the first GW had a duel-class system, it didn't matter what class the opponent was, it was all up to the set of skills you brought to the battle.

The mesmer, thief, and monk classes in GW2 was the biggest disappointment. The mesmer was my favorite class in GW1 because I could stop an opponent from performing any attacks, but in GW2, all mesmers do is make illusions which fails to perform well in a high damaging party. The thief is the best class to play for PvP because they could stealth long enough to defeat their opponent (over 10 seconds). I could find no way of combating stealth other than casting AoE spells to hopefully hit someone who is still there. The removal of the monk class was a huge disappointment because I mainly play healer in all MMORPGs--thus, I have to play an elementalist in GW2 to become something close to a healer...

Playing alone in this game is very sad... In GW1, at least you had the computer AI playing with you but in GW2, it becomes very boring when there is no one to play with...

This game is not addicting as the first one so I am a bit disappointed. Revolutionary in MMORPGs mechanics but an easy game to give up--8.0

I would still recommend this game to people who hasn't played the first one because the storyline doesn't require knowledge of the first Guild Wars.
