Possible potential for being the best MMORPG on the market.... after they fix the countless BUGS.

User Rating: 8 | Guild Wars 2 PC
I had high hopes when installing this game and straight off the bat I was amazed at the beauty and fluid mechanics of the game. In my early levels I noticed that GW2 "steals" almost every good idea that any RPG or MMO prior to it's release has brought out. This is not a bad thing as it makes for an amazing experience, an example of this is the "View Point" lookout, stolen straight from Assassins Creed.

At first I was so impressed I thought it would take a global event to get me off the game but a few hours into the game and my frustration with the countless bugs caused me to step away from the keyboard several times swearing under my breath. Every single map has at least one broken quest, and by broken I mean you can't either finish it or even start it. Personal Stories, a new idea for the game that gives you a private instance where you build your own story based on your decisions, many of them are broken and can't be completed, the particular personal story I chose was broken at level 30 and has been that way for a week.

Other glitches like teleporting into walls or under floors during fights are worthy of smashing my face into the keyboard out of pure frustration. Some zones the mobs move faster than you do, so if you find yourself in a tricky situation just die and pay the repair bill there is no chance of escape. There are more bugs than I could possible describe to you in this review so let's just say that the GW2 team has their work cut out for them.

I can honestly say that this game is so good that I can still find enjoyment even with all these issues, and the reality is it should only get better with time, I would have given this game a 10/10 if it wasn't for the bugs but sadly as it is now I can only give it an 8 and that is being nice about it.

I do recommend this game, it is for me the best MMORPG on the market to date. I do hope my patience pays off and sometime in the near future I can re-review this game and give it the 10/10 rating it so potentially deserves.

But let me warn all you MMORPG players, this game is hard, not like your easy WoW or Rift, you can't just stand there and cast your abilities, in this game you have to be mobile ALL the time, even the "Tanks" if there are such a thing in this game, ALL classes have to avoid ALL the time or you will die. The mobs have AI, they move out of AOE's they rush you and will kill you faster than you can blink. Learning to strafe or dodge (avoid) is essential to survival in this game. If you don't like having to concentrate while you play this game is not for you. I know I can play WoW or Rift and watch television at the same time, you will not be able to in GW2.

Minus the bugs this game is great, I just hope they sort this stuff out before they lose too many players out of sheer frustration.
