Guilty Gear Isuka is not as poor a game as I feel Greg makes it out to be... read here, and judge for yourself.

User Rating: 8.5 | Guilty Gear Isuka PS2
Guilty Gear Isuka has gotten quite a bad rap, partially for it's diversion from the common 1 on 1 fights guilty gear fans have come to enjoy and its lack of online play. It seems rather shorthanded to me to ding a game based on these two factors. I would like to begin by saying that if you bought this game for a one on one guilty gear experience, you will be sorely dissapointed. The purpose of this game is the idea of a four player clash. Any matchup is possible- 1vs 3, 2vs 2, 2vs1, etc etc. Even when you seem outnumbered, you will be given a slight degree of health and burst bar to keep you from becoming overpowered. If you are looking for the usual Guilty Gear experience, set your sights a might bit higher on the likes of X2 or X. I agree that Guilty Gear Isuka does take some getting used to. If you haven't heard already, you are required to press a button to turn your character around. This is a new concept, but also necessary for the immersive 4 player combat that Iskua promises. Although it takes a long while to get used to, you won't want to be without this control when things get intense. Another thing that takes quite some time to get toned to is the idea of two plains- a background fighting section and a foreground fighting section. For the most part, being on one or the other plane means you will not be able to attack a person on another. It causes things to get loud and busy real fast, and you might spend some time getting used to noticing when someone shifts plaines. After a while, however, these things become almost second nature to a fan who sticks with it. The single player mode still uses rules set by multi-combat, but after spending so long getting used to it, you won't mind at that point. The stories behind each character lack the imersiveness that the past Guilty Gear titles have set forth, which is only the true mark I can make upon this game. It is dissapointing to see Isuka not carry this tradition over, especially when a four player capability should allow more room to show character interaction. Any anime fan might want to add this to his collection simply for the art. Anime fans will most likely be the ones drawn to the game for the creatively drawn characters... and the rather unorthodox ones. I would reccomend the game to anyone looking for a good multiplayer experience, especially those who have groupings of friends who live for 2d fighters. You will not be dissapointed, especially if you have never played a Guilty Gear game before- you won't even notice the lack of the traditional story, and see only a unique fighting game that does something clever and different. -Ace
