where did they get the song list?

every other rhythm game i've played has had at least a smattering of songs that i was at least faintly aware of. we've been to several venues already in this game and i haven't recognized a single song. ya, so i'm 42, but i'm not musically illiterate or totally pop culture unaware. i.e., even a dolt like me should have heard some of the songs before if they were ever played on the air.

that said, the ability to play as your avatar is great. it is however a bit silly to have three normal avatars on stage joined by a hair-band rocker from the 80's as lead singer. you should be able to have a complete avatar band without needing four people to play the instruments i think. all in i like this version on all counts except the most important one, namely the songs i get to play. i finally went through the whole song list and there were fewer songs that i wanted to play in that list than in any other rhythm game i've played. it's too bad they don't do the rock band thing and let you play songs from other games in this one.
