a new setlist = more for you to jam out to
Ultimately the short and sweet of it is that I almost love this game. It had a lot of potential but didn't quite get all of its bang. The only thing keeping me from completely loving this game is the song list, which I like about 90% of the songs.
First off, you gotta consider the song list to be the lifeblood of any music/rhythm game. I mean, c'mon, are you really gunna play a game where the music is crappy? However, I think this song list offers variety. If your looking for extremely up to date current tracks, then this game may not be for you. However, if you want a good (almost great but not quite) song list, then pick this game up. The songs vary in age and in style. For example, you may be playing Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower and then play the Beastie Boys' Gratitude. So, honestly, this song list covers a wide base, which I dig. But fear not if this game doesn't offer enough songs. If you purchased any DLC from GH World Tour, those songs are available in the song list, which is very nice.
As for the gameplay, the same ole tried and true formula that Guitar Hero has offered is still in place. Other than a few technical differences with the power meter and crowd meter, this game remains the same. The really nice additions to this game come in the initial setup and during the song. One of my two fav's are that when the game turns on, you almost immediately get a chance to play a random song. Of course, you have the option to play it or just go to the main menu. And, my other fav of this game is that you or your rocking comrades can jump in or out at any point during the game. Another nice feature is that you can play with four guitars. This may prove beneficial to a group where no one wants to sing or drum, lol.
So, in the end, I highly recommend this game to any Wii owner who wants more music to shred to. And, I highly recommend that you do your homework and look at the full song list before you purchase this game. Because, if you ain't into most of the songs, then you should prolly just pass on it.
