Basically a Guitar Hero II retread, but does it matter? A poor Guitar Hero game is way better than most other games!

Guitar Hero rocks the 80’s is a good game. It is not great like Guitar Hero II was though. It is essentially a retread of Guitar Hero II. All of the characters, guitars, venues, etc. are the same as they were in Guitar Hero II, with just a little bit of variations here and there to make them look more 80’s. The only real difference in the game, of course, is the songs. The song selection is quite a varied mix of 80’s tunes, mostly hard rock like Poison, Winger, Quiet Riot and the like. There were a couple of different ones thrown in there though like Flock of Seagulls, among others. I thought it was a pretty decent song list. The only problem is that there are only 30 songs in the whole game. There are none to unlock in the store like on Guitar Hero II, just 30 songs in the main set lists and that’s it. If they’d added just 10-20 more songs that would have made this game way better. And how bands like AC/DC, Metallica, Megadeth, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, etc. didn’t have any entries in this game really surprised me. Those are classic 80’s (and beyond!) bands that should have been in this game without even a thought. I detest Bon Jovi actually, but there were a few good songs from them back in the day. I just wanted to put that on record. So, overall this game is good, but it should have been great. It was just a retread of the earlier versions of Guitar Hero, but it is definitely still worth buying. Don’t pay full price for it though, there’s not enough songs or unlockables to warrant the normal cost of a video game to this one.
