A very worthy follow up.

User Rating: 9.2 | Guitar Hero II PS2
Last year a game named Guitar Hero came out that revolutionized blah blah blah. This seems to be how every review for this game starts out. Well, what if there wasn't a first game? Would you still feel the same way about Guitar Hero 2? I guess my point is that I'm aggravated about how Navarro titled it a 9 because he PERSONALLY thought the original song list is much better. Music is different to everybody, and thinking your personal opinion is fact is stupid. The song list still kicks ass. In my PERSONAL opinion, the original song list was better. But that is because Guitar Hero's song list was incredible and very close to perfect. Thats hard to repeat every time. On the other hand, I feel the bonus songs are better this time around. Anyway, this game is awesome. The gameplay is rock solid, and much harder as well. There are more multiplayer options, more songs, and more humor. What more do you want? Some of the bass parts are kind of lame I have to admit, but what are you gonna do. Practice mode is just what the doctor ordered for those tough songs, and in general the game does a lot right. I gave value a 9 as an average between the two extremes you have the guy who played Guitar Hero 1 to death and just starts out on expert. It will still take him a while to get 5 stars on all the songs. He'd probalby tilt it at an 8. Then you have the newcomer who only heard about it recently. That person starts at easy and works their way from easy to medium all the way to expert. On a side note, the learning curve is not as smooth as the original. Maybe he/she has a lot of friends that like to come over and play too. The tilt would probably get a 10 from that guy. So it is an average of those two. The sound of the imitationg singers is not as solid as the last game, with some songs like Killing in the Name Of and Heart shaped Box sticking out of the sore thumb. The guitar is still sounding spot on 95% of the time. In conclusion, if you have the money, buy this game. The song list is debatable and it all depends on your preference. You'll probably find some stuff you like no matter what. This game is fantastic, and I highly recommend any one that likes Rock and Roll check it out.
