A guitar game that rocks no matter what level you are as a musician.

User Rating: 9 | Guitar Hero II PS2
Just a year after the success of Guitar Hero on the PS2, Guitar Hero is back for an encore with Guitar Hero 2. What has been said about this game is that many of the songs on this game would be much more difficult for beginners compared to the songs on the first game. Let's just take a look at how this game comapers to its predecssor. Gameplay- First looking at the gameplay, here is the reason why I give a ten. When first playing the game there are four options on the menu: Career, Quick Play, Multiplayer, and Training. Starting with Career you play the role of a guitarist starting from the bottom working your way to the top. When first playing, you are able to choose a guitarist and a guitar to begin your journey to stardom. Along the way, you can change your guitar or guitarist if you want to. In Career mode there are four kinds of difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. While playing you must beat 3 out of the four songs in each level to move until you reach the last level where you must beat all four songs to defeat the mode. A reminder, if you play in easy you will not recieve money during gameplay to unlock items from the store, only on the upper levels. Also while playing it is only in the upper levels where once you complete songs in each level, the crowd will request an encore allowing you to unlock a fifth song to the four songs in each level. As I said before, the store is where you can purchase hidden songs, guitars, etc. once you have the right amount of money. Quick play is where you chose songs that you have unlocked and play them at any kind of level that you chose. Multiplayer is simple, you play co-op with a partner playing a song. Training is the section that recieves the hype from this game is because not only does it provides tutorials on the game for beginners, but in training, if you are stuck on a certain song, you can practice it on the certain difficulty choosing where you want to practice it and the speed that you want to practice on. Graphics- Well on the issue on graphics, this feature does not really stand out in the game. Most of the time, you're focusing on the music bar, instead of watching the charcters play, but for the most part the graphics look clean and clear. Sound- this is it. This is what guitar hero2 is all about. First starting with the soundtrack to this game, many songs include Wofmother's "Woman", "Message in a bottle" by the Police, and "Cherry Pie" by Warrant. There is a total of 64 songs in the game,, and many of them sound quite excellent when playing them on the game. The sound of the songs are crystal clear, but one reason why I give the sound a nine is because even though the music is great, it still can't compare to Guitar Hero's soundtrack, but it does rock. To conclude, for someone who missed out on the original Guita hero, and a game where you play a guitar seems to interest you, there is no reason why not to go out and purchase this game instead of GH. This was the reason for me, I never played guitar hero, but when I got a hold of Guitar Hero 2 it was amazing and truely a fun game to play.
