A unique rhythm game that borders on perfection.
GAMEPLAY- 10
There are no flaws in this game's gameplay. The controls are comfortable and they work perfectly. I have never missed a note and had that "WTF, I got that one!" feeling. Every time I hit a note, I think I should have, and every time I miss a note, I know the reason why. The notes are always in sync with the music, and we'll talk a bit more about that later. This game never gets boring for me.
GRAPHICS- 9
Now, if this weren't a rhythm game, the graphics would probably be a 7 or 8. But considering it is a rhythm game, adequate graphics don't change the gameplay. The character models are interesting, it's easy to tell which kind of note any note that's coming at you is, and overall, the graphics have a nice look to them.
SOUND- 9
The sound in this game is great. One unique thing about this game is that it isn't like you're playing along with the music. it's like you are playing the music. If you don't play a note, no guitar sound for you. If you mess up a note, screeching guitar string sound for you. If you let go of a fret button on a long note, the note cuts off... for you. The only reason I gave it a 9 is because most of the soundtrack is good and fits the game, but a few tracks I personally don't like.
VALUE- 7
Now, with 4 difficulties, a store mode, a career mode, a quick play mode, and 2 multiplayer modes, this game will last you a LONG time. Then why, almighty Cardbord_Box_A, did you give it a 7? For one reason and one reason alone. Those guitars cost some serious money. For the game and a controller, it's $80. Want an extra controller if a friend comes over? $120, IF you can find another wired controller. This game costs MONEY.
In conclusion, Guitar Hero 2 is a near-perfect rhythm game that has only 2 flaws. There are a few songs that I don't care for, and you have to pump out serious cash for it. Anybody that is a fan of the Rhythm genre should definitely pick this one up. I hope you enjoyed my review, and I hope you enjoy Guitar Hero 2!
