Wanna be a Guitar Hero?
User Rating: 8.4 | Guitar Hero II PS2
I'm going to try to make this a short review... For those of you who have the first Guitar Hero, don't hesitate, just buy the second. Having the guitar controller is a MUST for this game. It is hard to play with the Dualshock Controller. Plus, it's a lot more fun. If you don't know anything about this series, basically, you have a guitar controller with five "Fret Buttons", and a strum bar. You hold the fret button down and hit the strum bar either up or down as the color coded notes pass through the bar. It's just like DDR, except the notes come down, not up, you have a guitar controller, and you have to do two things at once. For all you guitar players, this game does incorporate some guitar elements, like hammer-ons and pull-offs. The selectable songs in this game are more for the rock lovers. Shadows Fall, Rush, Spinal Tap, and Rage Against The Machine are all present. Many fun techno songs also make an appearance, like Buckethead's Jordan, Freezepop's Less Talk More Rokk, and some others. I was not very happy at first with the song selection, but as I progressed, and unlocked my current favorites, YYZ and Thunderhorse, I learned to love it. This is one of my favorite games, and once it gets old, you just play something else for a while, and when you end up needing to rock... just pick up Guitar Hero II.
