What's up, all you Guitar Hero's! You know what's coming, A REVIEW FROM X-EVIL!

User Rating: 8.4 | Guitar Hero II PS2
Hey, what's up gamers? It's your modest reviewer, X-evil! Coming at you, with a brand new review for the game Guitar Hero 2! Now let me start off by saying, I'm a huge guitar hero fan, because of the fact I have a talent for it! I know tons of guitar players, that struggle to even grasp the concept of this game. Guitar hero took on the old classic look to music and guitar playing, which everyone loved cause of the fact, they knew most of the artist on number one! But guitar hero 2 takes on a whole new look to the music industry.

They're letting you play songs of some of the newest and hottest groups in music right now, even though some of them might be unheard of to most of the crowd, they're young bucks who will soon get their shine in the spotlight, and you'll be able to say one day. "Hey! I've heard these guys before, I played one of their songs on guitar hero 2!" But anyway, back to my main point. With the addition of this new game coming out, about three new guitars for real life use also came out, which is quite awesome from my point of view, and all the controls stayed the same and that's what I love about these games, Is you can change the looks of the characters, change the music and most of the venues, but you don't change the way you play the game! And that's another addition to this new game, Is they added a few new characters! And changed the looks of most, but it was a bit of a let down, because they used the excuse of Xavier's new look, as a new character, Instead of just changing his look and adding even more new characters. But as normal for these games, the graphics weren't the best around, but it's not really the graphics the gamers are looking for in this game, It's the gameplay and sound quality (AKA: Song tuner). And this game delivered that song alikeness to the original singers voices!

I was also noticing between the 360 and PS2 versions, and please know that I do love the playstation consoles, but the 360 version of this took the cake, the Ps2 verisons track list, contained the following songs, for the current venues..

PlayStation 2

1. Opening Licks

"Shout at the Devil" - Mötley Crüe "Mother" - Danzig † "Surrender" - Cheap Trick "Woman" - Wolfmother "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight" - Spınal Tap † (Encore) 2. Amp-Warmers

"Strutter" - Kiss † "Heart-Shaped Box" - Nirvana "Message in a Bottle" - The Police "You Really Got Me" - Van Halen[15] "Carry On Wayward Son" - Kansas (Encore) 3. String-Snappers

"Monkey Wrench" - Foo Fighters "Them Bones" - Alice in Chains "Search and Destroy" - Iggy Pop and The Stooges "Tattooed Love Boys" - The Pretenders "War Pigs" - Black Sabbath (Encore) 4. Thrash and Burn

"Cherry Pie" - Warrant "Who Was in My Room Last Night?" - Butthole Surfers † "Girlfriend" - Matthew Sweet † "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" - The Rolling Stones † "Sweet Child O'Mine" - Guns N' Roses (Encore) 5. Return of the Shred

And that's not even included with extras! It has tons of replay value, and a huge song choice list, even if it's not as great. As the first games selection was! And hey, If real live guitars start to use buttons, you'll be thanking RedOctane that they made the start of your new career! But back to the game play, the multiplayer is a complete change over from the first one, cause now instead of sharing notes having the song all cut up, they added the ability to either do versus or co-op, and what I find great about the co-op is, you can be the bass and rhythm guitar! It's whole new sounds for the game players of guitar hero. And the versus is just as great, cause now you're able to try and outdo eachother at some of the songs that still stump real live guitar players on their guitars. And after all of these new changes of venues, characters, song choices, modes! Deep inside the hard ugly rocker core of this game, It's still that guitar hero was grew to love, and it even sort of grows on you after you play it for awhile, keeping it's easy to learn, but hard to master game style! But once you get that legendary status on 'Expert' mode, you my friend are the true guitar heroes of the game world! I salute you, now go out there and get rocking with it heroes!
