As fun as the first, song selection not quite as strong.

User Rating: 8.7 | Guitar Hero II PS2
Guitar Hero II keeps the series alive with a host of new songs and the same great fast paced gameplay. Career mode lets you play at different venues, unlocking new songs along the way, and (as long as you play medium or harder difficulty) earning money to buy new guitars, finishes, character, songs, and videos. For those new to the game, Guitar Hero is an awesome series which allows even the least musical ear to try their hand at rhythm games. You are able to utilize the guitar controller from the first game in the sequel, as well as the standard gamepad, which is slightly easier but only a fraction as fun. One word of caution: The PS3 controller can cause some major frustration when it hiccups and you miss an entire group of notes.

For you bass players out there, lead guitar is no longer the only way to play the game in. Playing as the bassist offers a different and exciting experience, especially when playing coop with a friend as lead guitar. Guitar Hero II is an improvement over the first in all ways but one: the song selection this time around is noticeably weaker than the original. Rhythm junkies rejoice, the latest game is a great. Staying true to the series, you will be rocking hard and long and you can go into it at any level of skill.
