Ever wanted to be a cowboy? Well Gun puts you right in the middle of the wild west. You play as Colton, a hunter who kills food for ferry boats along side his "father" Ned. Then, in a weird twist of events, you have to get some kind of golden cross and fight some one eyed freak and his militia. The game was supposed to be a Grand Theft Auto western style, but does not live up to it's expectations. The story missions are short and few, and the side missions are the same. Once you beat all the side missions and story missions, all that's left to do is look for gold and make head cheese out of poor townspeople. The game also lacks in weapons. Even though there are many types of rifles, pistols, etc. they all take the exact same ammo, making it feel like you only have about 6 or 7 weapons. And you can barely hold any ammo. Sure, the story missions provide fantastic fun but I had really hoped to see better free roaming gameplay. Another bad thing is how tiny the map is. I can ride around the whole map two or three times in an hour. I sound like I hate this game, I can tell. Here are some good things about the game. The missions are very fun and there is a good amount of gore. It's handy to have a flask that restore your health when you drink from it. And it is very handy to be able to shoot off horseback. The pistols have unlimited ammo and the peacemakers are pretty powerful. And the dynamite bow is AWESOME!! Although I wish the map was bigger, the story was longer, and the gameplay was more challenging, this game is fun and will make you want to live in the 1800s.
